Volunteer

The Friends of the Westport Council on Aging provides numerous opportunities for you to apply your skills and talents in a way that will make a difference in our community.

  • Join the Friends Board!

The Friends are made up of 9-15 members of the community who have an interest in supporting the services and programs of the WCOA.

  • Serve as an officer on the Friends Board!

The Friends swap out officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) every year or every other year, if possible, to give every member a chance to use their skills to benefit our community. Do you like to take notes and write? Become our Secretary. Do you have a background in banking or are just good with numbers? Apply to become our Treasurer/Bookkeeper.

  • Become a volunteer gardener!

A team of local gardeners meets every Monday morning from mid-April to October to maintain existing gardens, plant lovely flower boxes and replace plantings as needed. New members who enjoy these activities are welcome. Gardeners come and go according to their own preferred schedule.

  • Help out with special events!

Some events, like the Walk/Run for Westport, require a large number of volunteers. Please put your name on our contact list if you are interested in helping out.

To learn more about volunteer activities with the Friends, please call the Senior Center at (508) 636-1026 and ask to be referred to an officer of the Friends Board, or contact us via the website.
