FWCOA 40th Anniversary Celebration/Fundraiser
The Friends of the Westport Council on Aging held an elegant party and fundraiser at Rachel’s Lakeside on Wednesday December 10th to celebrate their 40th Anniversary. One hundred ten guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, soft background music by Sympatico, and a champagne toast commemorating the historic anniversary.
Remarks were delivered by FWCOA President, Carol Skarbo, who thanked our supporters and donors as well as the current Board for the organization’s success. She took the guests through a brief history of the organization and its support for the senior center, honoring past and present leaders.
COA Director Beverly Bisch paid tribute to volunteers, who are the secret to the Westport COA’s success, and presented them with a commemorative stemless wineglass engraved with a photo of the Westport Senior Center Hazel Tripp sign.
Attendees enjoyed a series of 7 posters created by Susan Read and Kathy Corbeil documenting the organization’s 40-year history through newspaper articles, photos and historical records.
